Alabama authorities are reportedly investigating an alleged riot at the Holman Correctional Facility early Saturday morning.
According to AL.com, Atmore police said they were not at liberty to discuss the incident and the Escambia County Sheriffs Office said there was a riot but the inmates were contained.
Photos and video of the alleged uprising at the correctional facility was posted on social media. The images show fires at the prison and have makeshift masks covering their faces.
Zanice Houston told AL.com she has a son at the correctional facility and she posted on Facebook asking for prayers for her son as the riot was ongoing.
Houston told the newspaper that her son, Jamario E. Houston, called her via collect and said the prisoners built a wall and were waiting for authorities to arrive at the facility.

Holman Correctional Facility is home to death row inmates and is the only prison in Alabama that conducts executions. The building was constructed in 1968 was finished and opened in 1969.
